Le Mortier - Loire Gite Holiday & Bed and Breakfast

There are not many places where you can sit outside in the sunshine and the only things you can hear are the birds on their daily mission, the crickets working overtime and the wind rustling in the trees (and in May and June the frogs around the pond!) This has to be heaven, especially when you are far away from the rushing crowds without a care in the world.

These were our thoughts on finding Le Mortier - you may say it must be isolated. Well not really, we are only 4 minutes from a main A road to Tours and just 25 minutes to an autoroute, and six minutes to the nearest supermarket.

The old style longere house, dating back to the 1800’s, is set in about 10 acres of its own grounds with a large pond, plenty of wildlife and our own free range fruit bushes and trees. It is just 5 minutes drive to the Forest of Chandelais which is open to the public and there are many tracks to be explored and super picnic spots with no crowds—A place for romance and exploration.

We are in the centre of the Loire Chateaux country. Many are easily accessible to visit in a morning or afternoon—This is the Royal area of France with much history.

We are also in the centre of the Loire Valley Wine Route with hundreds of vineyards and Wine Chateaux to visit and wines to sample—It's just too good to be true. Famous wine cellars are to be found in Saumur and are open most of the year round.

For those that still appreciate the old traditions you will still find many hunting packs in this area, mostly on foot but several on horseback too. We can arrange for you to enjoy some hunting or perhaps a ride through the forest, or even a carriage drive with picnic.

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO OR JUST RELAX AND UNWIND.
